My Last Concert with Truro Cathedral Choir

Excitement has been increasingly building for this year's upcoming summer concert, 'Only in Sleep', especially for me anyway. We've been practising the music daily as we get close the performance. The music is intensely powerful so I have been trying saving my voice somewhat in order to give it my all in my final concert with Truro Cathedral Choir. Particular favourites of mine are 'Cantos Sagrados' by James Macmillan and of course the Duruflé Requiem. These are contrasted with some music that is equally powerful in a different, calmer way, most notably 'Only in Sleep' by Ēriks Ešenvalds and 'Even When he is Silent' by Kim André Arnesen. But it is also extremely meaningful for me to be singing music both by Dobrinka Tabakova and Russell Pascoe, both of whom have had a long and lasting connection with the choir and have inspired me through their compositions. To be singing their music in my final concert is a wonderful end to my three years in the choir. I am counting down the days and I'm sure it will be very emotional as it will be the last time I will be performing as a cathedral chorister. This is definitely a concert not to be missed!
