Spirit of Christmas

Give a helping had this Christmas

Become a Spirit of Cornwall Christmas volunteer

Charities, organisations and community groups will often need extra help at Christmas. For many it can be one of their busiest times of year. If you would like to give a helping hand you will need to contact the volunteer centres well in advance as the registration process can take time.

By contacting the Volunteer Cornwall you will be able to find out what local volunteer opportunities exist in your area and how you can give them a helping hand. There are 4 Volunteer Centres spread across the county.

Redruth (West Volunteer Centre)                 01209 217614

Truro (Mid Volunteer Centre)                        07968706111

St Austell (Mid Volunteer Centre)                 01726 71087

Liskeard (East Volunteer Centre)                 01579 344818

  • Information about COPE - Companionship at Christmas

As part of the Companionship at Christmas campaign, Abbeyfield opens its’ doors to invite local older people into our homes to enjoy events and meals over the festive period. This helps to alleviate loneliness and isolation in the local community at a time when many older people may be alone.

We need older people in the community to be aware of what we can offer them at Christmas and throughout the year with Sharing Sundays, coffee mornings and other events. Abbeyfield, also offers a lovely lifetime home with support for independent living.

We are looking for volunteers to help with meal times, Christmas craft events and to drive local older people to Companionship at Christmas events and back home again so they can have companionship over the festive period.

By being part of Abbeyfield’s Companionship at Christmas events at our Falmouth, St Austell, Bude or Camelford, houses you will have a positive impact on the well being of older people in your local community and help alleviate loneliness over the festive period.
