Work began today to cover the front of Truro Cathedral with scaffolding
that will allow high level access to the Western Towers. LTC Specialist
Scaffolding Limited are a national scaffolding company based in Plymouth
with a local office at St. Day co-ordinating the project.
A spokesman at the company said, "We are delighted to have successfully tendered for the job at the the Cathedral. This is by far the biggest job we've had to do. We've brought staff down from upcountry and used scaffolding from everywhere. There will be approximately 36 miles of scaffolding going up in the next few weeks, enough if laid end to end to take it from Truro to Liskeard!".
The scaffolding should take approximately 12 weeks to put up and will remain for 9 months as restoration work is completed on the west front.
