Edward White Benson was enthroned as the first Bishop of Truro on 1st May 1877. It was his vision and passion that saw the establishment of the Diocese with its emphasis on mission and evangelism.
This bust and the trowel from the laying of the foundation stone have been kindly lent to the Cathedral from the collection of the Royal Cornwall Museum. Bishop Benson left Truro in 1882 to become Archbishop of Canterbury.
