Sung Eucharist

On Sunday mornings and other significant religious festivals, holy communion is set to music, using one of the countless Mass settings written by composers throughout the centuries, as well as hymns and anthems. There is also a sermon, usually based on the Gospel reading of the day. We call it a Sung Eucharist (the word eucharist is the Greek for ‘thanksgiving’) to reflect these special features. The service normally lasts about 75 minutes.
