PARKING AT TRURO CATHEDRAL

Truro Cathedral is situated right in the centre of Truro and sadly does not have a car park for the general public. There are many pay and display car parks in Truro city centre, and park and ride systems if you don’t want to drive in the town.

GETTING HERE BY BUS OR TRAIN

There are regular bus and train services to Truro from all around Cornwall. There is even a passenger ferry service from Falmouth and St Mawes.

When can I visit Truro Cathedral?

Do I have to buy an entrance ticket?

No. Entry to Truro Cathedral is free. See our Free Entry page to find out more.

Do I need to book a tour?

If for a small group or for individuals generally, the answer is no. We have free tours for some parts of the year (see our Tours page) but remember to contact the cathedral prior to your visit to check that the tour is going ahead. If you are a larger group (10 or more) then booking is necessary. Visit our Tours page to find out more.

Do you run tours for schools?

We have a small but dedicated education team who can organise various tours for your school. We would love to hear from you. Please visit our Schools page to find more and contact the team so that we can accommodate your requirements.

What is the cost of a tour?

Like entry to the cathedral, general tours are free but donations are welcome. There is a small charge for school tours - please visit our Schools page to find out more.

Can I bring my dog to the cathedral?

Well-behaved dogs on leads are allowed in the cathedral but not in the Cathedral Restaurant. Identified Assistance Dogs are permitted access throughout all areas of the cathedral (including the restaurant).

May I take photographs in the cathedral?

You are very welcome to take photographs.

Are there people available to help if I am looking for support?

Cathedral Chaplains are available throughout the day to offer support or help with spiritual guidance or confession.

Are there accessible facilities?

There is ramp access at the front of the cathedral in High Cross near the front entrance.
Nearly all parts of the cathedral are accessible by ramp, but St Mary’s aisle is not accessible by wheelchair.
There is an accessible toilet near the Chapter House.
A hearing loop is installed, with a portable loop also available.
Large print service orders are available.
There is a wheelchair available for use at the ramp entrance.
Steward assistance is available where possible.

Can we be married at Truro Cathedral?

We receive a large number of requests from couples wishing to get married at the cathedral. It is necessary that some criteria is met. Please visit our Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals page.

Can I get something to eat at the Cathedral?

There is not a cafe currently operating in the cathedral, but Truro has many cafes and restaurants close by.

Is there a Cathedral Shop?

There is a pop-up shop for gifts and souvenirs.

What else can I do in Truro?

Truro Cathedral is located right in the centre of Truro and has lots of things to see and do for visitors to Truro and Cornwall. Truro was recently named top family-friendly holiday city in the UK by Holiday Lettings UK and, with its cobbled streets, food markets, independent retailers and visitor attractions such as Truro Cathedral and the Royal Cornwall Museum, its a great place to visit. Cathedral

There is ramp access at the front of the cathedral in High Cross near the front entrance. Nearly all parts of the cathedral are accessible by ramp, but St Mary’s aisle is not accessible by wheelchair.
There is an accessible toilet near the Chapter House.

Old Cathedral School

All floors are accessible by wheelchair using the lift in the building.
There is an accessible toilet.

Visiting with children

Truro Cathedral is a place of discovery, learning and fun for the entire family.

Baby changing facilities are available in the accessible toilet at the rear of the building.

It is a wonderful place to explore with children and there are two explorer trails available all year round for you to enjoy and learn more about the cathedral together:

A Cathedral for Cornwall (for ages 4-7)
Bishops and Builders (for ages 8-11)

During the school holidays, we regularly have seasonal-themed family trails available including our popular Truro Cathedral Teddy trail.
