Truro Cathedral is a popular school destination when choosing educational visits for the year. Please note that currently, the cathedral is offering self-guided visits to schools only. There is no charge for self-guided visits but we do ask that schools use the booking procedures given below. This will ensure that your visit can be accommodated within the busy cathedral diary and avoid the possibility of disappointment on the day. To start the booking process, please complete the form below.

The hours below are the current general visiting times. Please always check before planning your visit as opening times can change as we accommodate events and activities. General Visiting:

Monday-Saturday: 10:00-17:00
Sunday 11:30-16:00

Bank Holidays

Our bank holiday opening times are now the same as our general visiting times (unless specifically stated otherwise).

Special Hours

Thursday 14 May - the cathedral will be closed for general visiting from 10:00 - 13:00 due to a funeral.
Saturday 16 May - the cathedral will be closed for general visiting from 12:00 - 15:00 due to a wedding.
Wednesday 3 June - the cathedral will be closed for general visiting from 13:30-16:00 due to a cathedral team meeting.
Saturday 6 June - the cathedral will be closed for general visiting from 11:00 -14:30 due to a blessing of marriage.

At Truro Cathedral, we have a number of tour options available to help you experience Truro Cathedral like never before.

Audio Tour

Visitors can now explore the cathedral at their own pace with our brand new mobile audio tour. The tour is available through the VoiceMapp app and can be purchased at the Welcome desk for £5. Just bring your phone and headphones, and you are ready to discover the stories, secrets and stunning architecture that makes the cathedral so special.

Regular Guided Tours

A guided tour with one of our knowledgeable volunteer guides is the perfect way to discover more about Truro Cathedral’s fascinating history, treasures and secrets whilst appreciating the building and architecture. Our regular guided tours take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 11am, from 30 March to 29 October 2026. Remaining at ground level, these tours explore the key features of the building’s history and architecture and last about an hour. Highlights include the Parish Church contained within the cathedral, several of the chapels, the Sanctuary, decorations and of course the stained-glass windows.

There is no booking required for these tours and there is no charge. If you’d like to make a donation at the end of your tour, it will be gratefully received.

Occasionally our regular guided tours cannot take place due to events taking place in the cathedral, please check our What’s On page for information and/or email us at info@trurocathedral.org.uk to check if there is a regular tour taking place on the day you plan to visit.

Currently for 2026, there will NOT BE tours running on the following days: Thursday 2 April, Monday 4 May, Thursday 14 May, Monday 29 June, Thursday 2 July, Wednesday 19 August, Thursday 24 September, Tuesday 6 October.

Booked Tours

We can offer private tours for groups, providing a more intimate and personalised experience of our magnificent cathedral and its history. These exclusive tours allow visitors to explore the cathedral at their own pace, led by one of our knowledgeable volunteer guides, who can tailor the tour to the group’s curiosities. Our booked private tours are a great way for special interest groups to engage with areas that are of particular relevance to them, these could include Truro Cathedral Treasures, Stained Glass, Art, or Architecture & Gothic Revival. Group tours can be booked at a time that suits you, dependent on availability.

Tower Tours

See rarely seen sights with a tour of the cathedral roof spaces, including, with these special tours, ascending the Victoria Tower to see views across Truro. The tour also takes you into the Southwest Tower where you can see the wooden stairway leading to the top of that tower. These tours take place on dates throughout the year and will be detailed on the What’s On page with details of how to book your place.

Roof Tours

Explore the hidden world with our exclusive roof space tour. Journey into the cathedral’s lofty roof space for unique vantage points, offering seldom-seen perspectives of architecture and grandeur within.
