Mothers' Union

Founded in 1876, Mothers’ Union is a worldwide Christian movement with 4 million members. It campaigns on issues that affect women and families - poverty, injustice and gender-based violence - and provides practical support at grassroots level. Mothers’ Union is a registered charity (number 240531) and has branches in 84 countries. Read more about their work on the Mothers' Union Website.

Truro Cathedral and St Mary’s Mothers’ Union branch usually meets at 2.00 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Chapter House to hear a talk and enjoy tea and cake together. they also organise services (such as Lady Day in March or Advent in December); run a free Family Fun Day in August and get together with other branches in the Diocese for shared events and activities. People of any gender, whether parents or not, are welcome and they invite you to join their friendly branch.

Truro Cathedral would not be able to continue its life and work without the help of our generous supporters.

There’s lots of ways you can help us to continue providing inspiring worship, engaging events, life-long learning and traditional choral music for all in our community.

MAKE A DONATION

As a self-funded organisation, Truro Cathedral does not receive regular government or Church of England support. We rely on public donations to cover the £1.1 million per year it costs to run and maintain Cornwall’s only cathedral. Please give what you can to preserve our sacred heritage.

Regular donations

To make regular donations please use the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS). The PGS service is free and 100% of your donation (and Gift Aid if applicable) is passed on to the cathedral.

Call 0333 002 1271, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm quoting the cathedral’s PGS Code: 390 639 001 or visit our page on the PGS website to set up regular donations online.

One-off donations

You can make single donations on our website – just click the link below.

Remember, if you are a UK taxpayer you can boost all your gifts by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you donate.

Volunteer

Without the support of our dedicated volunteers at Truro Cathedral, we would not be able to do all that we do. Volunteering at Truro Cathedral can involve many activities – come and be part of our amazing team! We welcome enquiries from anyone wishing to volunteer.

Volunteering posts are open to everyone, and days/times can be arranged to suit you, whether you want to give a day a month or a couple of hours a week. Volunteering at Truro Cathedral offers the opportunity to join a diverse team, be involved in a local community, to meet people and make new friends, to learn new skills and to spend time in a beautiful and historic building.

Our volunteer roles include: Bellringers, camera operators, flower arrangers and foliage collectors, gardeners, event stewards, chaplains, welcomers, tour guides, roof/tower tour guides, servers, honorary vergers and cash collectors.

The Friends of Truro Cathedral

The Friends of Truro Cathedral is an independent charity and a valued supporter of Truro Cathedral. The members are unified in their mission to help support and maintain the cathedral by fundraising for vital projects.

The Friends organise interesting and fun events for the group and the wider community which promote friendship and fellowship, are always delighted to welcome new members. Visit our What's On page to find out about forthcoming Friends events.

The Friends run a coffee morning every second Wednesday of the month in the Assembly Room of the Old Cathedral School Building. All are welcome including non-members for a coffee and a chat! Visit the What's On page to see up and coming dates.
