The Truro Cathedral chorister programme offers an unparalleled pathway for 34 musical children from any background, supporting them to achieve world class excellence without leaving the Duchy. Over the course of five years, they hone skills that enable them to flourish in whatever field they enter. The chorister programme is open to children of all faiths and none.

Nurturing this excellence costs £4,000 to £6,000 per year per chorister, providing 250 hours of singing tuition, pastoral care, music, robes, transport and bursaries for their education at Truro School.

We’re seeking to build relationships with businesses who share our values and aspirations, and who will help us ensure that the chorister programme continues to thrive in the years ahead.

We are inviting different levels of corporate sponsorship, at £2,500, £5,000, £10,000, and £20,000.

From £2,500, we offer:

Ad in choir concert programmes: 1/4 page

Six tickets to cathedral choir concerts each year

Reference to you as a sponsor on our website

From £5,000, we offer:

Larger ad in our concert programmes, from 1/2 rising to a full A4 page

Your logo on a vertical chorister supporters banner in the cathedral

Acknowledgement in our social media and local media outreach during choir concert promotions

For higher-level sponsors, we offer priceless hospitality experiences. The number and scope of these are tailored to commitment and include:

A tower tour for your clients or staff up the Victoria Tower with stunning views over Truro. Begins at £5,000, for six guests, rising to 180 guests at higher sponsorship levels

‘Father Willis’ Organ Demonstration: learn about one of the finest instruments of its kind in the world

Exclusive private performance for your guests by the choristers, either at Truro Cathedral or at a suitable local venue of your choice. (Available at the £20,000 level)

TCM is a group of supporters who share a love and appreciation of the world class music at Truro Cathedral, embodied in its choir and organ.

The choir

The choir has an unbroken tradition dating back to the earliest days of Truro Cathedral in the late 1800s.

A typical year involves more than 200 services, concerts and broadcasts, featuring over 250 pieces of music, from plainsong to premieres of music by leading composers.

The 1888 Father Willis Organ

The cathedral is home to one of the finest organs of its kind.

Our 'Sponsor a Chorister’ initiative is open to individuals and organisations and is a simple way to help us sustain the world class training that we offer musically-gifted children, right here in Cornwall. As a sponsor you will have a unique and tangible experience of the difference you are making, both to the young people of Cornwall and to Truro Cathedral Choir, described recently by the BBC’s Petroc Trelawny as ‘One of the nation’s finest choirs’.

We work hard to nurture our 36 boy and girl choristers, continuing a vibrant musical heritage that goes back 140 years. Now, however, to secure their future, we urgently need your financial help.

“It’s vital we protect this precious part of the Duchy’s culture and the pathway it provides for our most musically talented children.” Edward Bolitho, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall.

The cost of nurturing excellence

It costs £3,500 to £5,000 per year to support each chorister with 250 hours of singing tuition, mentoring, music, robes, transport and bursaries for Truro School. Choristers come from many different backgrounds and these bursaries are vital and ensure no child is turned away for lack of family funds.

As a Chorister Sponsor, with an annual commitment of £1,000-5,000 or a one-off donation, you will be giving a child in Cornwall access to this life-changing, world class opportunity.

Sponsorships may made in memory of a loved one, with the option of a photograph and dedication online and in our concert programmes.
