This weeks organist is Elli-Mae McGlone.

Live-stream

The concert will be live-streamed on this page at 13:10 as well as the cathedral YouTube channel.

The series runs from March to October and each concert lasts around 45 minutes. There is no charge to attend or listen to these, and the cathedral only asks that if you are able, you consider making a donation - the income generated by the generosity of both the audience and artists (who play for free) directly supports music at the cathedral and the ability to continue to offer such community events.

See rarely-seen sights with a tour of the cathedral roof spaces, including, with this special tour, ascending the Victoria (central) Tower to see exceptional views across Truro. The tour also takes you into the South West Tower where you can see (but not ascend) the wooden stairway leading to the top of that tower.

Tours on this date take place during general visiting hours, your £35.50 tour ticket covers your tour. There is no admission charge to visit, however, we do encourage donations. All funds raised will directly support the care and upkeep of Truro Cathedral.

Please note

A maximum of 6 people will be on each tour. Tours can last up to 90 minutes and take place between 10:00 and 17:15.

Book Tickets

More Information

Each tour is facilitated by a guide who will lead the group up the enclosed spiral staircases to the cathedral roof spaces and towers.

The stairways are steep and narrow, reducing (to 48cm wide) as you ascend over 200 steps. At the top of the first spiral stairway is a short and narrow (45cm wide x 195cm high) corridor leading to the walkway through the Western roof void.

From here you will be taken into the South West Tower. Access here has a restricted height of 150cm. You will need to walk crouched and up a small ladder into the South West Tower. You will not be able to ascend further than this level in this tower. From here you will return to the Western roof void.

The roof void is traversed by a wooden gangway, which has handrails. You will pass through two voids before arriving over the Crossing, where you can see the cathedral floor and Quire areas. From here you will explore the other roof spaces at the 80ft level. There is a balcony area which you can see over and through above the Crossing. Caution is to be taken when viewing, moving around the rigging and other trip hazards which exist in this space.

After taking all that there is to see at the 80ft level the group will ascend the Victoria Tower via a narrow spiral staircase. This staircase is narrower than the first and narrows further as you ascend. There is limited headroom 150cm in some sections. You will emerge into a roof section near the top of the tower for a rest and to view the inside of the tower. The ascent will resume again when everyone is ready to the top of the tower where you will be enclosed by a parapet that is over 7' tall. There are plenty of apertures for views over Truro, however, again there are some sections with limited headroom.

The guide will be accompanied by a safety steward on each tour. Please note that there are cables on the ground in some areas. Care is needed to avoid any trips or falls.

When arriving for your tour, please wait at the Welcome Desk. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your tour start time to ensure that you have time to complete the waiver acknowledging the safety points noted here.

Safety Information

This tour is unsuitable for anyone who has any condition or difficulties arising from exertion or any mobility difficulty.

The minimum age for anyone undertaking a tower tour is 18.

There are several areas with a low ceiling level. Caution must be undertaken. Safety helmets will be available. There are also hazards at floor level which present risks of trip. The stewards will identify these.

Flat (sensible) footwear must be worn.

Participants are encouraged to wear gloves or must wash their hands at the conclusion of the tour due to the amount of dust on surfaces.

The tour has been risk-assessed. Should a medical incident occur which would result in the need for resuscitation then it is unlikely that this would be successful given the confined space. Similarly, if a medical evacuation is needed then it is unlikely that this would be successful. This risk must be considered by anyone considering taking part in a tour.

Should a tour participant feel that they cannot proceed with the tour at any time, then they will be accompanied to the ground level by a steward.

The tour team will remain in contact with the team on the ground floor at all times.

All guides and stewards have undertaken the required safeguarding training for leading these groups.

Inspired by Cornwall’s rich spiritual heritage, Kres weaves together ancient and contemporary expressions of faith through music, poetry, storytelling, and liturgy.

Each gathering explores a different theme - sometimes rooted in the seasons, sometimes in the stories of saints and seekers who have walked before us, and always in the deep questions of life, faith, and reconciliation. We hold in tension the longing for peace and the reality of struggle, both in our own hearts and in the world around us.

July’s Kres service will explore the mystical symbolism of oak trees, with help from guest contributor Sophie Craven of The Convivial. They’ll use readings, poems, ambient music and ritual to explore the story of these mighty trees, rediscovering their religious and spiritual significance for today.

Kres is an hour of ambient music, contemplative prayer inspired by Celtic Christianity, storytelling and poetry; a chance to wander the cathedral and find quiet moments.

Another Way is a community rooted in Cornwall, inspired by the land, its spirituality and its stories. Drawing on the traditions of Celtic Christianity we follow in the footsteps of those who shaped this 'Land of Saints.' We gather across Cornwall, sharing meals, worship, creativity and the arts, pilgrimage, prayer and acts of service, living a rich, seasonal rhythm together. In a time when many are searching for meaning and hope, we rediscover ancient practices that ground us and reconnect us to God, to one another, and to the land. Another Way is an invitation to walk this path.

Kres is a space for everyone, whether you come with faith, doubt, or curiosity, you are welcome. They use the language of the Christian tradition while making room for personal reflection and interpretation. You are invited to participate in prayers, songs, and readings as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

This exhibition shows the stories and images created by Belgium photographer, Luk Collet, from his travels along the route in 2021 and 2022. The exhibition consists of 26 large panels showing photographs and Luk's reflective text. There is a QR Code link on each panel in three languages that allows access to more information, local drone footage and also interviews with pilgrims and those who sustain the pilgrim's welcome along the route.

This weeks organist is Julian Haggart.

Organ Concert Series 2026

Book Tickets

Private Tours

If you're looking for a more intimate, personalised experience, we also offer private booked tower tours for groups. Please note these tours are chargeable. We’re very sorry for any disappointment this may cause and appreciate your understanding. All ticket holders will receive a full refund.

It's 50 years since Jean-Michel Jarre's 18 million selling ecologically aware album "Oxygene" changed the face of popular electronic and ambient music. Now music technology expert Mark Jenkins performs the album in its entirety accompanied by lights, lasers and artificial intelligence computer graphic projections. The evening opens with two other classics of electronic space music from 1976 - Ashra's beautiful and emotive "New Age Of Earth" and Klaus Schulze's powerful and evocative "Moondawn".

Mark Jenkins is the creator of "Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells for the Moog Synthesizer", "Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon for the Moog Synthesizer", and "50 Years of Kraftwerk's Autobahn". Having performed around the UK and Europe and in the USA, Brazil, Russia and China, he has written on almost every major music technology publication in the UK and is the author of "Analog Synthesizers", the world's leading book in its field.

The "Oxygene" performance features classic analog and cutting edge music technology including the groundbreaking and newly released ESI XSynth from Germany.
