Be transported by Truro Cathedral Choir as they take you on a journey through some of the most beautiful choral music from the start of the 20th century to the present day. The opening of the concert will ground us at the start of the 20th century with one of the most iconic choral music classics: Parry’s rousing 1902 coronation anthem ‘I was glad’. Other music in the first half includes Stanford’s exquisite three Latin motets and pieces by Bairstow, Walton and Britten as we move through the decades. We go into the interval with the anthem composed by William Mathias for the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, ‘Let the people praise thee, O God’.
The second half picks up the journey and features mainly female composers. Highlights include the dazzling anthem ‘Ascending into heaven’ composed in 1983 by Master of the Queen’s Music Judith Weir, and James MacMillan’s profound ‘Christus

*Supporter Tickets - We are once again offering a ‘Supporter Ticket’ option – Truro Cathedral is a self-funded organisation and does not receive regular government or Church of England support. We rely on public donations to cover the £1 million plus per year it costs to run and maintain Cornwall’s only cathedral. The cathedral choir is an integral part of the cathedral and the Supporter Ticket has been introduced as an option for those wanting to help support and maintain the work of the cathedral choir throughout the year. £1.50 from each Supporter Ticket goes directly to the Truro Cathedral Music fund – set up to support the choir. Thank you.
