Truro Choral Society: Handel's Messiah

19:30 - In the 277½ years since its first performance in Dublin, Handel’s Messiah has become undoubtedly an integral part of the Christmas season for much of the music-loving community – and a real treat in store for those who may be hearing or performing it for the first time.  The concert also features choirs from several Cornwall schools who will sing alongside Truro Choral Society for their biennial performance of Messiah, including Helston Community College, Truro School, Richard Lander School and Truro High School for Girls.  Choral Director, Martin Palmer, once again leads the choral forces and Truro Symphony Orchestra (leader:  Philip Montgomery-Smith).  The performance will also feature soloists with strong links to both Truro and the cathedral, including tenor Matthew Secombe, a former pupil of Richard Lander School and Royal Academy of Music student, bass singer (and physicist) Jaivin Raj, with sopranos Helena Paish, Katherine Gregory, Rebekah Scamp, Lowenna Wearne and welcoming back mezzo-soprano Felicity Turner.
