In 2017 Truro Choral Society hoped to start a new tradition when they gave their first ever New Year’s Day concert. It proved so successful that it was decided to repeat the event every year and for 2019 they will present the following programme. Vivaldi’s Gloria will open the concert followed by Vaughan Williams’ Tallis Fantasia. Another Gloria follows, this time by Poulenc, after which the orchestra will take you out of this world with Holst’s Jupiter and Mars from the Planets Suite. The concert will end appropriately with Russel Pascoe’s piece entitled “Music!” which celebrates the joys of singing. As in previous years, the Dean, The Very Rev. Roger Bush, has agreed to liven the proceedings by acting as compere and Cheryl Rosevear (Soprano) and Felicity Turner (Alto) will provide solo accompaniment. Tickets £18 unreserved (under 19 free) from Hall for Cornwall, Penhaligon House, Green Street, Truro ( tel 01872 262466) or online at www.hallforcornwall.co.uk or on the door.
