Donate the Rebate Cornwall

£400 off our energy bills, coming soon. Can you give some of it away?

Many people in our society will be glad of the £400 rebate that is to be rebated from household energy bills over the coming weeks to help families with the rise in energy prices. This input from the government is being given to all households regardless of need, although there are obviously some whose need is greater than others.  A few weeks ago, Canon Alan from Truro Cathedral noticed after one Sunday service, "Several parishioners came to me, wondering how to donate their rebate to those who need it most.” As he reflected “It’s in the Cornish DNA to be a good neighbour and this campaign makes it simple to share our resources in the most tangible of ways.”

Following the lead of the cathedral, Transformation Cornwall has teamed up with The Diocese of Truro, The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Methodist District and Cornwall Faith Forum to encourage those who can to donate some or all their energy rebate to Poverty Hurts, the Cornwall Community Foundation's cost-of-living appeal. The campaign is part of the wider Crowd Funder ‘Donate the Rebate’ campaign.

If you would like to donate your rebate (or part of it – you can give as much or as little as you like), visit

The initial target is £10,000 and there is no minimum donation. If you and maybe some of your friends are able to pop just a few pounds onto the campaign page today, this will show other people that fundraising has begun in earnest and real people are already backing the campaign.

If you are willing, please use the 'leave a message of support' box and mention your rough location – this will help us show that people across Cornwall are getting on board.
