Three Spires Singers Spring Concert

Three Spires Singers and Orchestra and soloists perform the great masterpiece of Western music – J.S. Bach’s wonderful final work. The conductor will be James Anderson-Besant. Soloists will be Soprano - Helena Moore, Alto - Alasdair Austin, Tenor - Jack Granby and Bass - Tom Butler.

Bass soloist, Tom, is studying for a Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music. Described as “a wonderfully sonorous bass” by Opera Today, he has extensive experience of the operatic and concert repertoire.

Tenor Jack Granby will be spending much of this spring and summer touring across Europe with Tenebrae, one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles.

Alto soloist, Alasdair Austin, recently joined renowned vocal ensemble The Gesualdo Six, where he sings with Joseph Wicks, former Assistant Director of Music of Truro Cathedral who has also performed with Three Spires Singers as a soloist. Plus, Alasdair has sung with the choir of St John’s College Cambridge under the direction of Andrew Nethsingha (now at Westminster Abbey)!

Helena Moore, who will join as the soprano soloist, graduated with distinction from the Royal Academy of Music after reading Music at Trinity College, Cambridge, and her CV boasts a wealth of song recitals, operatic roles and oratorio performances. She regularly sings with the Dunedin Consort, the Academy of Ancient Music and the English Concert, with whom she looks forward to performing Messiah in Valencia at the end of this season.

Bach’s B Minor Mass is one of the supreme masterpieces of the choral repertoire, with great emotional depth and musical expressiveness. If you have never been to a live performance of this monumental work then this concert is for you!
