Tuesday Live: Lunchtime Concerts

2025 sees the ninth series of summer Tuesday lunchtime concerts! The original aim of the series was to feature the cathedral’s grand piano in a variety of contexts. As from this year, the scope of the concerts has widened, and the series has been rebranded as Tuesday Live. The concerts, which take place mainly on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from May to September, offer a chance to hear just a sample of the wealth of musical talent that exists in Cornwall.

Concerts start at 1.10 pm and last for around forty-five minutes, so offer a perfect break in your shopping trip or your working day. There is no charge to see these concert with donations appreciated to support Truro Cathedral Music, particularly Truro Cathedral Choir.

Performers for today are Molly Leigh violin, and Paul Comeau piano.

Today's concert will feature a lovely programme of music by Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak and Bartok. Violinist Molly Leigh makes a welcome return to Cornwall after studying at Bristol University, and is joined by pianist Paul Comeau, who used to work with her when she was a pupil at Truro School. Beethoven’s final violin sonata, one of his lesser known gems, is a wonderfully lyrical dialogue between violin and piano.
