A family wedding

Bride and groom leaving the cathedral as guests throw confetti over the newlyweds.

It was very good recently to be able to host a Wedding for the wider cathedral family. Sebastian Burley was married to Elizabeth Bray, who had once worked in the cathedral shop - that still employs her Mum, Celia and Dad, Kevin. Now living in Surrey, the couple returned to Lizzy’s childhood home for this special occasion which was followed by a great reception overlooking the sea at Portloe. Kevin provided the words for the first hymn which came from 1 Corinthians 13 and went well with the tune that most of us know as ‘Morning Has Broken’ and his other contribution was a splendid ‘Father of the Bride’ speech, which for those who know him was honestly not too long. Celia, in turn, made her contribution to the cake which had a total of 4 bakers.

The ‘Flower Guild’ made the cathedral look even better than usual and with a bit of a giggle and with a smile on our faces we celebrated the happy couple's love for each other as they pledged themselves to each other before family and friends and before God in our special sacred place. That place which plays such a big part in many people's lives in Truro and beyond. It was a great day.
