Truro Cathedral was delighted to welcome Canon James Mustard of the Cathedral Music Trust to Evensong on Sunday 3 July. Canon Mustard was there to present a grant of £30,000 from the Trust to support bursaries and scholarships for young choristers in 2022 and 2023. Canon Mustard, the Precentor at Exeter Cathedral, also preached at the service. The livestream of Evensong is available on the cathedral’s YouTube channel, which also features other choral services and organ recitals.

Everyone at the cathedral is hugely appreciative of the Trust’s continuing support for the choir, an essential element in the financial mix that secures the future of the Anglican Choral Tradition here in Cornwall.

Canon Mustard is pictured with the dean of Truro (Roger Bush), the director of music (Christopher Gray) and members of the choir: the three head choristers (Woody, Josh and Lawrence) who are just about to finish their time in the choir; two new choristers (Archie and John) and Marc Gregory, our senior lay vicar.

A growing and diverse range of individuals and organisations are involved in supporting music at the Cathedral. If you would like to join them, please call our office on 01872 276782 or visit www.trurocathedral.org.uk/music
