Chorister vacancy - help spread the word!

Truro Cathedral choristers standing inside the cathedral.

Please note that this vacancy has now been filled.  We would still love to hear from you if you are interested in your son becoming a chorister.  Usually, boy choristers join the choir as they enter Year 4, leaving at the end of Year 8. Please contact our director of music for any information or if you have any queries.

Do you know a boy who loves to sing and is due to start Year 4 in September 2019? If so, please spread the word that there is a single vacancy for a boy to join Truro Cathedral Choir as a chorister this autumn.

Boy choristers join the choir as they enter Year 4 and leave at the end of Year 8. All new choristers attend Truro Prep School where they receive scholarships, with means tested bursaries also available so that selection is based purely on ability. They continue as music scholars at Truro School after their choristership has finished.

Christopher Gray, Director of Music, said, “Being a chorister is a unique experience – not only singing regularly in the cathedral services each week, but the concerts, live BBC broadcasts, tours and CD recordings all within the fold of a really close team that has a special purpose and sense of identity – there’s nothing quite like it. It is very much potential that we are looking for at this young age, not a finished product, so don’t be put off by a lack of experience or training!”
