CIMCF 2019 - "What a festival!"

Participants of the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival singing in Truro Cathedral

Between 2 and 6 May, Truro Cathedral welcomed a total of 50 choirs, amassing approximately 1,800 choir members, all participants in the 9th Cornwall International Male Choral Festival.

“What a festival!” said Dean Roger. “Though it's been a joy to host various events for the CIMCF in previous years, with the majority of the 2019 festival’s prestigious concerts and competitions being held here, in the cathedral, this year really was something special.”

Over the five days, six different events, some formal competitions and concerts, some informal concerts free for all to attend, took place, featuring choirs from all over the world.

Festival Artistic Director, Gareth Churcher, said, “The cathedral was acoustically and aesthetically perfect. All the choirs really enjoyed performing at such a prestigious venue and I thank the dean, the cathedral staff and volunteers hugely for their support.”

In conclusion, Dean Roger added, “We loved every minute of having the choirs here. The vibrancy with which they filled the cathedral space with their voices and presence was almost unparalleled. We can’t wait to welcome CIMCF back in 2021!”
