Cornwall Wildlife Trust Photography Competition Returns with Exhibition at Truro Cathedral

Aspiring photographers from across Cornwall are being invited to celebrate the county's extraordinary wildlife as the Cornwall Wildlife Trust launches its 2026 Wildlife Photography Competition.

The popular competition is open to people of all ages and abilities, whether they are seasoned photographers or simply capturing nature on a smartphone. Organisers are encouraging entrants to showcase the beauty, diversity and challenges of Cornwall's natural world through a striking collection of images.

The competition officially opened on 5 August 2026 and will close on 13 September 2026, with selected entries earning a place in a special exhibition at Truro Cathedral this autumn.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust says the competition aims to inspire people to connect with nature and share their own unique perspective on the landscapes, wildlife and habitats that make Cornwall so special.

This year's competition features six categories, each reflecting a different aspect of Cornwall's natural environment.

Nature on the Edge focuses on the challenges facing wildlife and habitats, including climate change, pollution and increasing human pressures on the environment.

Beneath the Surface celebrates Cornwall's rich marine ecosystem, from kelp forests and reefs to whales, fish and those who explore life beneath the waves.

Coasts & Tides highlights the wildlife, communities and landscapes that define Cornwall's iconic coastline.

For everyday photographers, Nature in Your Pocket is a smartphone-only category that recognises the power of capturing spontaneous moments in the natural world.

Meanwhile, A Cornwall Where Nature Thrives, sponsored by Classic Cottages, shines a spotlight on stories of hope, conservation success and the people helping nature recover across the county.

The final category, Young Photographer, is dedicated to encouraging and recognising the next generation of wildlife photographers.

The exhibition at Truro Cathedral is expected to showcase some of the most compelling entries, offering visitors a visual journey through Cornwall's landscapes, wildlife and conservation stories.

Those wishing to take part can submit their entries through the Cornwall Wildlife Trust website before the September deadline.

For nature lovers, photographers and cathedral visitors alike, the exhibition promises to be a powerful celebration of wild Cornwall and the people inspired to capture it through the lens.
