Forging Ahead

As we continue to recover from the Covid pandemic we have been very active in pursuing support that will aid the long-term sustainability of the cathedral. These efforts were enhanced last year through support from the Cathedral Sustainability Fund which allowed us to recruit a fundraising lead. I’m sure you read about Judith’s appointment to this post some months ago.

We applied again to the same fund earlier this year and recently heard that we’ve been fortunate in being awarded further funding from the Cathedral Sustainability Fund. The support received will allow us to extend our fundraising resources and allow us to recruit to two new funded roles which will be open to applications as I write this.

The first role we recruit to is a chief finance officer on a part time basis, an essential role, and a key component reflecting and responding to how cathedral governance is changing under the Cathedral’s Measure. The role will be integral in the cathedrals management team and provide additional support to our existing fundraising, finance and operational teams.

The second role is an exciting opportunity for the right person to get hands-on involved in continuing the great work we’ve been doing in developing the more commercial areas of the cathedral as our operations manager, working as a direct support to me as my own focus turns to the longer term and more strategic considerations for the cathedral in the coming years.

We’ve all seen just how busy and diverse the cathedrals event life has become and the great many local organisations and people we’ve been able to engage with as a result and I look forward to us continuing the growth and development of the work we’re doing with the community.

After the scaling down of the cathedral team as a result of the Covid pandemic its fantastic to have this financial support for the next few years to allow us to build on what we’ve already achieved and truly forge ahead in securing the cathedral a resilient and sustainable future that plays a key role in our community, heritage and culture and most fundamentally, the worshipping life of Cornwall.

Further information about both these roles can be found on the Vacancies Page
