Luxmuralis Returns to Truro Cathedral with a New Immersive Light and Sound Show
Luxmuralis is set to return to Truro Cathedral in 2026 with a new immersive light and sound show. After the success and overwhelming positive response to Space by Luxmuralis in January 2025, the cathedral is excited to bring “Time’” to Truro in January 2026; from Monday 12 – Saturday 17 January.
"Time" promises to be an extraordinary exploration of humanity's relationship with the concept of time, offering audiences an unforgettable journey through history, science, and imagination.
Visitors will journey through a series of captivating installations that portray humans as seen through different eras, exploring the fascinating theories of relativity, and the text of H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine."
Luxmuralis is the artistic collaboration between Peter Walker Sculptor and David Harper Composer who specialise in immersive fine art, light and sound installations around the UK and abroad.
During the day, the cathedral will appear to visitors as it usually does. Each evening, however, installations will be projected throughout the space, transforming the look and feel of the cathedral. The artwork will transport visitors through wormholes, allow them to venture inside the intricate workings of clocks, and show a dramatic narrative that spans from the present day back to the very beginning of everything.
The successful Time showing has already been to some cathedrals across the country, including Salisbury, Exeter and Lincoln.
Sean O’Neill, chief operating officer at Truro Cathedral said, “We are excited to be bringing Luxmuralis back again next year to showcase, Time. This remarkable artwork will fill the cathedral with light, colour and sound, offering visitors the chance to experience the building in a completely different way. It’s a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to come together, reflect on the theme of time, and see the cathedral’s beauty in a new light.”
Peter Walker, artistic director for Luxmuralis said, “After the incredible success of last year’s event, we are absolutely delighted to be returning to Truro Cathedral with Luxmuralis. It was such a joy to welcome so many people into the space and see the cathedral come alive in a completely new way. This year we look forward to welcoming thousands more visitors to experience a brand-new installation, sharing in the wonder and magic of light, sound, and this remarkable setting once again.”
For those wanting to visit the show, a sign-up form is available on the Truro Cathedral website to register interest and be the first to hear about when tickets go live.
