O Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree in Truro Cathedral

We are pleased to see the arrival of the Christmas tree in the cathedral. It stands around 19ft tall and is a Nordmann Fir.  The tree has to be hauled into place by the vergers and volunteers, and being so tall a scaffold tower is the only way to decorate it! The cathedral tree has over 200 lights and is decorated with around 100 baubles, many of them handmade by members of our sewing guild. Last year we took a time-lapse video so you can see the whole process, see below.  The tree will be in place until the Feast of Epiphany on the 6 January.
