Spectacular immersive light and sound show, ‘Space’ by Luxmuralis, coming to Truro Cathedral January 2025
Luxmuralis, the artistic collaboration between Peter Walker Sculptor and David Harper Composer who specialise in immersive fine art, light and sound installations around the UK and abroad, will be coming to Truro Cathedral in January 2025.
For the first time in its history, Luxmuralis will be venturing to Truro to give visitors a thrilling, immersive experience.
Truro Cathedral will host Luxmuralis’ ‘Space’ display between 13-17 January 2025. Space is a spectacular immersive journey for people to walk through and explore the space in the cathedral in a new light. The artwork asks visitors to look out into space and think about what humans have achieved in their place in the world.
During the day, the cathedral will appear to visitors as it usually does. Each evening, however, installations will be projected throughout the entire space transforming the look and feel of the cathedral. The artwork will cascade through the building, encouraging visitors to reflect on our connection to Earth within the universe, while music fills the cathedral, invigorating the senses.
The successful Space showing has already been to some of the biggest cathedrals in the country including Worcester, Exeter, Bristol and Durham.
Peter Walker, Artistic Director Luxmuralis says "We are delighted to be bringing Space to Truro. Having lived in Cornwall for many years, and knowing the city and the Cathedral so well it will be wonderful to bring this installation to the county and to present something quite unique in a place that means so much to us. As you wander through the magnificent architecture of the cathedral we will take you on an artistic journey to the edge of the universe and back, and experience the interior as never seen before."
Dean Simon Robinson said “One of the joys of being the Dean of Truro Cathedral is being able to spend time in this incredible building watching the morning or evening light move around and highlight different features. Luxmuralis will give us all the opportunity to experience and enjoy this place in a new and exciting way. It’s exciting to welcome this fascinating and immersive art exhibition to the cathedral and Cornwall. I hope as many people as possible visit and discover the beauty of this place.”
Sean O’Neill, Chief Operating Officer, said “I’ve wanted to be able to host a Luxmuralis show in Truro for years and I’m over the moon to have it here in January! The show is inspiring and breathtaking, and something not seen before in Cornwall.”
For those wanting to visit the show, a sign-up form is available on the Truro Cathedral website to register interest and be the first to hear about when tickets go live. More information will be available on the Truro Cathedral website and social media channels in the coming weeks.
