Truro Cathedral Choir is a family affair

It's a family affair at Truro Cathedral as we have two pairs of siblings amongst our fantastic choir this year.

Pictured left to right are Thomas and Josh from St Austell, and Bryher and Lawrence from St Agnes.

Josh and Lawrence have also just received their Head Chorister medals; with this important senior role comes responsibility for leading the other boys musically and setting the highest standards of behaviour.

Chris Gray, Director of Music at Truro Cathedral, is pleased to see his choristers inspiring and encouraging their family and peers: “It’s exciting to see the choral traditions passed down through families. Our choristers are wonderful ambassadors for the exceptional experience we have to offer.”

The choir is now recruiting its 2022/23 choristers. There is a ‘Be A Chorister For A Day’ event for girls in school years 7 and 8 on 9 November 2021, and there is a Chorister Experience Day for boys currently in school years 2 and 3 at school on 22 January 2022. Auditions are held in January for girls currently in year 7 and the deadline for applications is in December. Auditions for boys currently in years 2 and 3 are held in March and the deadline for applications is in February. You can find application information on the Truro School website.

All boys and girls receive 25% scholarships at Truro School and Truro School Prep, with further means-tested assistance available with the aim that selection is based on ability.

The Director of Music is always pleased to meet with boys and girls interested in applying, along with their families – it’s never too soon to start these conversations.
