136th Truro Diocesan Choral Festival

The Truro Diocesan Choral Union was founded in 1888 and hold their annual Choral Festival each year. They bring together singers from diverse church and community backgrounds from all over Cornwall to sing a service in Truro Cathedral, this is usually based upon an Evensong format.

This will be the 136th Choral Festival. There are several rehearsals, prior to the Choral Festival, when the singers meet together in churches in different areas of Cornwall and come together for the Festival service on the first Saturday in October. The director of music at Truro Cathedral conducts the combined choirs and they sing a variety of anthems and psalms (such as Parry's, 'I Was Glad). The congregation are welcome to join in with the singing of the hymns. The Choral Festival gives choristers, who sing in small choirs, the opportunity to sing major anthems in the cathedral setting.

All are welcome to the service, which starts at 4.30 p.m and will last for approximately one hour.
