Lunchtime concert with Allegra Ladies Choir
The award-winning Allegra women’s choir, from South Wales, will perform alongside the City of Truro Male Voice choir in a lunchtime concert. Entry is free of charge, and there is a retiring collection for Truro Foodbank. The concert begins at 1pm and will last for one hour. There is no charge to see this concert but donations will be encouraged for Truro Foodbank.
The Musical Director of City of Truro Male Voice Choir, Russell Pascoe, will choose a varied programme incorporating serious, fun, modern and more traditional pieces.
Allegra formed in 2011 and has flourished into a thriving, talented group with a diverse membership of more than 50 singers ranging from novices to experienced singers. Having won The Gold Cup at Cheltenham in 2023, for the Most outstanding Choir of the Festival, the choir also successfully took to the competition stage once again at the Mid-Somerset Festival in Bath by winning three trophies. They will be singing a repertoire ranging from Sir Karl Jenkins’ Cantilena to the popular Seasons of Love, from the musical Rent.
The City of Truro Male formed in 2003, but can trace their singing forefathers back to two Cornish local village choirs formed in the 1940s.
