The Friends of Truro Cathedral: Talk by Dr Joanna Mattingly on Cornwall's Saints
In her talk Dr Mattingly explores the rich, varied and unique dedication of saints across Cornwall, identifying over 140 local or Brittonic saints. She examines physical evidence - churches, holy wells and artwork - to reveal medieval beliefs and the cults surrounding these figures. Dr Joanna Mattingly has lived in Cornwall for over 40 years and has spent much of this time studying its churches. She is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a Member of the Cornwall Historic Churches Trust. Dr Mattingly's recently published book will be available for purchase on the day at a cost of £15.99.
