Threads through Revelation is an extraordinary large-scale textile exhibition by acclaimed artist Jacqui Parkinson, bringing the dramatic and visionary final book of the Bible to life through colour, texture and remarkable design and craft.
Comprising 14 monumental textile panels, each being nearly 3m tall, the exhibition explores the extraordinary visions recorded by John in the book of Revelation. Through vibrant silks, paint, metallic leathers and gold leaf, Jacqui reimagines one of the Bible's most challenging and compelling books in a way that is both accessible
and visually stunning.
Created over more than three years, the exhibition invites visitors into a world of powerful symbolism and big themes: hope and judgement, good and evil, heaven and earth, and ultimately the promise of a new creation. While Revelation can often feel confusing or intimidating, these remarkable panels offer a fresh perspective that has helped countless visitors engage with the text in a new way.
Having toured cathedrals and churches across the UK, Threads through Revelation continues to captivate audiences of all ages. Visitors frequently describe the exhibition as breathtaking, inspiring and deeply moving.
Why Revelation? The artist Jacqui Parkinson has always been interested in Revelation because John’s vision is like a picture book with lots of stories and vivid images. A new heaven and new earth. Great themes to expand in visual imagery and, while remaining a difficult book full of so many unknowns, it’s also a fantastic story full of hope!
