Who's counting?

The eagle-eyed among you might be wondering why the main doorways in and around the cathedral were recently adorned with some small electronic equipment.
Well, thanks to funding from The Tanner Trust and National Lottery Heritage Fund, the cathedral has finally been able to install a visitor counting system. The discreet system uses infra-red to count exactly how many people come in and out of the cathedral and its key areas. Ellen McKessock, Director of Operations, explained, “This installation is a big step in helping us understand our visitors and improve what we offer – for example, having accurate data on days/times of low and high visitor volume will enable us to match our resources to provide visitors with the best possible experience. We are sincerely grateful to both of the funders for making this a reality for us.”
